About Constant Craving Caterers

In the early 1990s, Suzette Lane was in the front of the house, while Lloyd Warren was in the back of the house at Choices restaurant in downtown Franklin. But they both wanted their own gig, so they began a part-time catering business on the side. Today their full-time occupation is Constant Craving Caterers, Inc. Lane, who often finds herself in the kitchen, still retains her front-of-the-house role, meeting with clients, and planning events. Warren continues as the back-of-the-house chef. Meanwhile, their food has become legend. Many say they are the caterer of choice for weddings, private dinner parties, corporate affairs, cocktail parties, music video shoots and the music industry at large. Creative and innovative with their offerings, Warren and Lane create magic for an outdoor wedding of 1,000 guests, just as easily as they do for an intimate dinner party for 12. “We don’t have a bunch of standard menus,” Lane explains. “We create most every one from scratch, just as we do our foods. I like to meet with a client to see just what he or she has in mind. Is this a huge party or an intimate one? Is it a celebration, whimsical in nature or a seated dinner, deserving of formal classical cuisine?” Lane and Warren like to do themed concept parties for their clients. They say that they get a lot of calls for a creative approach, particularly in the music business. “We love to take an event from start to finish with a concept, whether it’s a honky-tonk party or a Cajun celebration,” Lane says. The caterers say that summer offers particularly fantastic foods with produce right off the farm. Both Warren and Lane collect cookbooks, not for recipes but for ideas, ingredients and sheer reading pleasure. “I rarely use recipes,” says Warren. “I cook freehand, so when I read cookbooks, I’m reading for concept, for ingredients. I like putting a twist to Southern foods, though I likely favor Mediterranean as a regional cuisine.” From soup to nuts, these folks are turning out grand food for grand—and simple—occasions. Aptly named, Lane and Warren create memory-making food and a constant craving for a return experience.
